Make Money Online: You May Not Get Rich, But There's No Reason To Be Poor

money You may have heard an old phrase, "where there's a will, there's a way", but you probably don't know how it could apply to you. This is especially true if you apply it to the online world. You can make money online just like a lot of other people, but you have to know how to do it. You may not get rich, but there's no reason to be poor if you use your brain and listen to the right people.

Money for Nothing, Almost

There's only one thing that can stop anyone from making money online. I kid you not. That one thing is Internet access. You can get free Internet access at specific places, but I can't tell you where all the places are. Some public libraries offer free, yet limited, Internet access. If you have a relative with Internet access, you can leech off of him or her pretty easily.

If you live in a place like I do, the only free Internet access would probably be a distant relative or a very good friend. Internet access can be inexpensive, though, if you know where to look. Internet cafes are not too expensive for most people, even here.

Start a Free Blog

There are so many ways to make money online, it would be ridiculous for me to even try to tell you what they all are. I'll start with the easiest way.

Google owns blogger.com and allows you to set up a blog about almost anything on their blogspot.com domain. You can even put Google AdSense ads up on the blog, if nothing else. Guess what? It's totally free. Now, I don't personally use the free blogs, but that's only because I don't want to learn a new blogging platform right now. At least I know I have the option to use that route if and when I choose to do so and it won't cost me anything more than I spend right now for my Internet access.

Types of Online Businesses

If you see a need that isn't being filled by other online offerings, you can do something crazy like I did with ConnectContent.com and start an online business, but you don't have to go all out like that. There are people who have regular websites (non-blog) for things like a Christian online business or an eBay online selling site.

The point is that you have to do more than sit on your duff wishing you knew what to do to get started. If you use your imagination and your brain, you can do things that may seem almost magical to other people.

Setting an Example

I have five blogs that I write on. Oh, not all at once to be sure, but I try to write on each once or twice per week at the minimum. I'm not a great writer, but I know how to write. More importantly, I know how to write for you, the reader, as well as for search engines at the same time. I didn't learn how to it overnight and I didn't learn by myself.

I spent a lot of time reading the wrong things from the wrong people. When I finally started reading the right things from the right people, things started to click and I started making money. The clincher is that even if I never write another thing, I will continue to make money. Since the amount that I make is more than the cost of my web hosting and Internet access combined (including a required telephone line for DSL), I am essentially making money online and it isn't costing me anything at all.

I probably won't get rich, but I'll never be poor.

    Good introductory post.
I would like to see more and more people get involved on online because I think the more involved the more great new uses we will find. This internet thing is still in it's infancy.

  2. Nice post. I am currently doing some website work for slight profit but I need to expand it a bit. I am always looking at ways to make more money as well.

  3. Good point. Seems like making money online is a pretty straightforward process. Things just bog down because people give up too soon, don't get started at all, and/or listen to the wrong advice. But the great thing is that good advice is available online for free, so you just need to keep on reading, find a blueprint that you can work on (Grizzly's for example) and get started. Then it should only be a matter of time.

  4. Making money online is not a straightforward process. There is no quick way to make money online. Of course you could do some dodgey techniques and make a few dodgey sites and spam them to make a few quid quickly. These are not long term investment though so is probably no easier than making a legitimate white hat site with some useful content.

The best way of making money online is to try out every method you read. You won't know if it works until you try it.

  5. Nice post. Yes thier is alot of information that is no good out thier. Just find something you like and write about it. Then look for something that you can sell or promote related to it. Seo is the one thing that most people never take the time and learn about so that is one thing people must learn.

  10. I have to agree with you, anyone that sets out to make money online can and will make money if they are truly devoted. It really isn't that hard to do and even simple ideas like you gave in the article will get you going.

I had my reservations about the whole idea when I started online, but after a while money started to trickle in and then kept growing from there, now days this is all I do. I own an online business that allows me to work from home with my family, what more could a person ask for.

  11. Free blogs are a easy way for some one to try but a hosted one is the better way to go. Once you figure out the topics of your site and find something related to topic to sell then you need to do seo. If you own domian and host site you can control it better. Some free blogs actualy take over a site or drop them and all your work would be gone. I like affiliate programs like ebay or amazon to start with also.

  12. Great article and I love the title, very catchy. People do not realize it is actually quite easy to make a decent living off the internet and if taken very seriously one can become quite rich.
